High-speed Roll Downs at Circus Knie

Video-mapped centerpiece using 45 High-speed Roll Downs

45 custom-made High-speed Roll Downs with Art-Net, PSN and aluminum casing is currently being used at the Swiss Circus Knie. Each High-speed Roll Down moves 1m x 12,5m semi-transparent fabric creatively up and down with Astera LED-tubes placed into pockets at the bottom of the fabric.

Video masking, Art-Net and PSN

To create a truly immersive experience, projectors cast dynamic video material onto the moving fabric using advanced video masking. The positioning is controlled via Art-Net protocol, while live position feedback is sent from the Roll Downs to the projectors using PosiStageNet (PSN). This real-time data exchange ensures the video masking perfectly tracks the fabric’s movement at all times.

Axel Melchior about the project:

“It started last June when we consulted with Dushow on how to approach this.

Our interest quickly turned to the Wahlberg products, and we are very pleased they could be customized for us—specifically with the 1-meter width, black covers around the fabric, and custom flight cases.

The tour has been running since March; the Roll Downs are performing without issues, and we are very happy with the products.”
