The visit of the Royal physician at The National Opera in Copenhagen 2011

How does one go about moving gigantic illuminated panels across an opera stage without breaking anything – not least one’s back? Since their first appearance in a performance of the opera The Visit of the Royal Physician in 2009, the opera house LED panels had been causing calluses. Having to move their four 64m2 LED panels around on stage by manually pushing and pulling them, the Danish National Opera was looking for a less demanding solution.

To meet this need, Wahlberg provided a mechanical solution involving four DMX controlled motor units, one for each panel, allowing the LED panels to move effortlessly side-to-side. When the National Opera re-opened their production of The Visit of the Royal Physician in 2011, the LED panels were mounted onto the new sliding mechanism.

Three elements make up this DMX controlled I-Track motor system: an AC motor, an advanced positioning system and a 370W AC Motor Controller. All of these are built into a cart that fits directly on an I-beam.

Wahlberg Motion Design is a creative company devoted to the creation, innovation and design of products to create automatic DMX effects of stage props and lights.
